Seeing a family grow over several years always has been a great joy. I recently had the chance to reconnect with the Ruiz family. For years, we partnered with them in the care of their son, Jerson, who had a terminal brain cyst.
We walked with them through the good times and the heart-breaking times. We celebrated with them when Jerson learned to walk, and we cried with them when he passed. Our supporters kept this family in their prayers, and God’s comfort was felt. The Ruiz family knew that through the ups and downs, they could always count on their Rainbow Network family.
Several years have passed since our visits with Jerson, but his spirit is still alive. At a recent reunion, Maria and Deris were proud to show us what a beautiful young woman their daughter Litzy had become, and they were even more excited to introduce the two new little additions to their family.
Just after the introductions, Deris pulled photos out of a plastic bag that the family had brought to share. They were photos of Jerson and all the visitors that had come to see him and pray with the family.
You could still see the sadness in his parents’ eyes, but at the same time, you could see just how loved they felt by the many people who sacrificed their time and money to come and know their child.
They knew they were not alone.
Our mission is to share in Christ’s love, and we are doing this in each interaction we share with families like the Ruiz family.
They are seen. They are known. They are loved. This is the power of walking through life together.
If you have not yet joined us on this important mission, please prayerfully consider it today. God is changing lives in each community we partner with, and it is something you do not want to miss out on!
You can support rural Nicaraguans today.
