This is one of the most exciting times of year for our partner communities- the start of the school year! It’s easy to remember what it felt like to have new school supplies, a new backpack, and new classes with our friends. 

In addition to classes at school, our youngest students have been asking, “when is the colectivo going to start again?” That time is now! Our Education program is supporting more than 4,000 kids and youth during the most foundational parts of their lives. 

One of our recent high school graduates, Esmeralda, reflected on her time as a scholarship student. She said, “I am proud to have achieved my personal goals and to have shown strength and perseverance in difficult times.” Without her scholarship, Esmeralda’s accomplishments and personal development would not have been possible.

Not only do scholarship students receive support from Rainbow Network, but they also volunteer in their community. Through her service, Esmeralda shared that she learned about the positive impact she can have on the lives of the next generation in her community. What a great lesson to learn!

In total, 54% of last year’s scholarship graduates were the first to earn a high school diploma in their family. Let that sink in. After 30 years of working in the same country, we are still finding many families that have never reached this milestone.
