Embracing Every Opportunity: Meet Erica

Meet Erica

It is always exciting to see rural youth thriving. We have the blessing of watching them excel in their classes, find passion for serving their community, and set themselves up for a bright future.

One of our current standouts in our scholarship program is named Erica. Her quiet yet attentive spirit can be misleading, as people often think she is timid and shy. But she is a strong and determined young woman who is not afraid to take control of her colectivo or speak to a large group of strangers. Within minutes of meeting her, you know she is special.

Erica lives roughly three kilometers from the elementary school that she attended as a young girl. Now, she walks four kilometers to high school with nothing less than gratitude. Erica knows that continuing her education will change her life, and she is determined to make the most of this opportunity.

She is a model student and colectivo teacher, a top student in her class, and a participant in several trade school classes. In just the last couple of years, she has gained skills in baking, computer systems, Excel, CISCO, and facial and body aesthetics. While she excelled in each of these courses, her dream is to one day become a doctor.

Erica’s motivation for studying is to help her parents have a better life. With her commitment to her future, her sponsor’s support, and most importantly, her faith, we have no doubt that she will succeed.

She is joining over 80 other scholarship students who will graduate from high school this December! This is an incredible accomplishment, and we invite you to join us in praying for them as they take this exciting step.

Education is just one of the ways that we fight poverty in rural communities. Our mission focuses on healthcare, education, economic development, housing and faith as the building blocks that allow communities to develop and thrive. Your gift to Rainbow Network supports rural communities as they lift themselves out of poverty and into a brighter future!
