Economic Development

Small businesses strengthen communities.

Many rural households earn less than $200 per month. Lack of education leads to few job opportunities, and it is difficult to access bigger cities where there are higher paying jobs.

Rainbow Network helps to launch small businesses in rural communities. This leads to:

  • Increased income levels
  • Knowledgeable small business owners
  • Opportunities for work within the community

Individuals who are interested in starting their own business in their community are supported by our Economic Development Coordinator. They are given training on how to build a sustainable business, and they receive materials needed to start the business.

The Economic Development Coordinator coaches small business owners on how to establish the business, run day to day operations, budget, financially plan for the future, and successfully expand the business.

Local trade schools offer courses on skills like sewing and baking, and small business owners are encouraged to complete a course in order to learn or refine their craft.
