Raquel’s Story of Success

Raquel's Story of Success

Each dollar given to further our mission should do just that- help people reach independence. Raquel from La Palma knows what it is like to experience the many blessings of Rainbow Network’s presence in her community. In fact, her community recently graduated from our programs. They are completely independent!

Growing up without parents, Raquel’s grandpa raised her alongside her cousins. Working with cattle did not generate enough income for Raquel and her family to live comfortably. Each day was a struggle, but they were determined to survive.

Raquel and her family benefitted from Rainbow Network’s medical clinics and colectivo, and she was also awarded a scholarship to attend high school. It was a huge blessing for Raquel to receive support for her uniforms, school supplies, and a monthly stipend among other things. She traveled 12 km by foot and bus to attend school, and she worked hard to excel in her classes. Being connected with a sponsor reminded her that she was not alone and brought her encouragement throughout high school.

Today, Raquel is a high school graduate, and she is also a trained nurse. Moving away from her family in order to attend university classes was difficult, but Raquel was determined to fight for her dreams.

Not only is Raquel thankful that she personally received support, but she’s also grateful that others in her community and country are receiving the same support. Her advice to others in situations like hers is to “fight for your dreams and goals, knowing that nothing is impossible.”

If it were not for your compassion and generosity, Raquel would not have had the opportunity to complete her education and live an independent life. Because of you, Christ’s love and hope is being seen and felt throughout our partner communities.

Change a life like Raquel’s by giving a gift today! All donations given ‘where most needed’ through the end of April will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling your impact. Give online now or mail your donation to Rainbow Network, PO Box 14638, Springfield, MO 65814.
