For seven years, Woods Chapel Church has dreamt of partnering with the families of La Grecia in building new homes. That dream became a reality last week as twenty new homes were dedicated in our San Ramon Network.
Each of the families lived in a home made of mud, sticks, wooden planks, tin, and anything else they could find. All the homes had a dirt floor.
Today, the families each have a chance at a new life with a new home, water source, electricity, latrine, and space for a garden. Even more, their new home is across the street from a primary school, and they are near a major highway.
The families were joined by leaders from the surrounding communities, a delegation from Woods Chapel Church, and Rainbow Network’s team in Nicaragua.
The celebration began with a devotion and prayer by a local pastor. Cultural dances were performed, and words were shared by a variety of speakers.
Each family then chose a cross that was laid out on a table, which had the number of their new home marked on the back. It was at that moment that the family received the keys to their new home as well as a Bible. It was an exciting time for all who attended.
Thank you to the many people from Woods Chapel Church and Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church who made this project possible. Also, to all the people who lifted this project and these families in prayer.
Our prayers continue for these families as they rebuild their lives on this new opportunity God has granted them with.
A total of 1,302 families are living in a new house built through Rainbow Network, and the best is yet to come!
